Does it hurt my credit score when I ask for quotes for car insurance?

I just turned 25 and I'm tired of getting hosed on my premiums. I want to start shopping around but I know that the insurance companies check your credit score. What's the best way to go about getting quotes?

When should my parents add me to their car insurance policy?

When should my parents add me to their car insurance policy?

I live in Virginia, I am 17 years old. I have held my license for a year and four months. My parents have Allstate. During that time, my parents did not add me to their policy. Now they have decided to add me to the policy, but I heard that insurance companies will charge you from the date that you receive your license (meaning they will charge me for the year and four months that I did not have any insurance even though that I did not drive during that time). Is this true?

If a person has not inspected or registered their car in 4 years, would insurance become void in an accident?

If a person has not inspected or registered their car in 4 years, would insurance become void in an accident?

A co-worker of ours has not registered or inspected their vehicle (and incidentally not paid property taxes) for FOUR years. He still though coninues to pay his car insurance. We are wondering if it is standard for most insurance companies to require the yearly inspections for coverage. We think that he did this initially when getting insurance but has not inspected the car since. If he were to get in an accident and the insurance company found out about this would it make his coverage void? In other words, is he paying his insurance for nothing…or wasting his money!?
