Would £3000 be enough for a good car and insurance?

Would £3000 be enough for a good car and insurance?

I am 18 i found the insurance to cost £1900 for 10 months, the car i will buy cost £1100 with mot and road tax till next year. My mum is going to give £40 a month for petrol so am i covered and is this enough money or should i spend less also will buy the road tax disc.

    in this "economic climate" decent cars will be going for peanuts but at your age it would be best to get something that will be low group so the insurance wont be high
